A Masquerade!

I attended a friend's birthday party this weekend. A birthday party with a masquerade murder mystery theme! How fun is that. However, I had totally blanked, and forgot all about the party until a couple hours before! Eek!

I dont have many pictures of the process, because I was in a bit of a rush! But I'll show you what I do have and explain what I did as best as I can.

A quick trip to the craft store (grabbing pretty much anything that looked interesting) and here are my findings:

Patches found it all very interesting!

The first thing I did was take this totally lame black plastic mask and shape it up a bit. Heres a picture of what it looked like before and after. (Ignore the glitter, I didnt think to take the picture until after it was on!)

I opened up the eye holes (they were pretty tiny to start out) and gave them a bit of a curve at the outside end, as you can see in the picture. I also gave the bottom of the mask a little shape.

Then I put glitter glue around the edges of the eye holes, to make them a little more prominent (and who doesnt love glitter!)

Unfortunately thats all the pictures I have. However, here's a picture of me wearing the final product!

I used this tutorial to make the faux bow (only put two loops though). It was simple and ended up looking really good!

Then I added the loopy silver tape around the edges of the mask.

And finally, super glued the feather patch and bow onto the edge! The bow was a bit.. large. Looking back I would have probably left the flower off and just had the bow. It probably wouldnt have been quite so in my eyes and less overpowering that way.

And of course, I needed a gift for the birthday girl! Luckily, my fancy Chalkboard Paint (pictured) had just arrived the day before!

I dont have any pictures of what I made (heck it hadnt even dried yet when I ran out the door!) but I'll tell you what I did.

I got a cute little wooden plank and marked off a square in the middle. Then I painted it with the chalkboard paint. The birthday girl's favorite colors are orange and yellow. So I painted all around the rest of the board with orange craft paint, and then where the orange and black touched I put a stripe of yellow. It was pretty nifty and hopefully she finds it very useful! :)

    1. Danke!

That sounds like a great idea! I'm not very good at trying to say something auf Deutsch, but I can usually read it fairly well.

      :) Hab' ein gute Tag!
